Help Your Customers Ventilate Their Bathroom Better

| George Ball | Trader
As the wettest room in the home, all bathrooms need a good ventilation system. Helping to remove excess moisture in the air, a bathroom ventilation system will prevent mould and mildew from forming. This in turn will keep the humidity level in this room while allowing the air to circulate freely.

Yet, for customers without good bathroom ventilation, this room is never allowed to dry out completely in between uses. Thus, over time, there's a real potential for black mould to form which is detrimental to the health of all those using it.

Here The Bathroom Showroom suggests tips for improving bathroom ventilation, to help your customers create both a healthier and better-looking bathroom environment.

How To Ventilate The Bathroom

  • Install a good-quality extractor fan
  • Turn the extractor fan on for around five minutes before stepping into the shower or bath
  • Keep the extractor fan running for around 20 minutes after stepping out of the bath or shower, until the room is clear
  • Keep the bathroom window open during showering and bathing and for some time after to assist the ventilation process
  • Try to keep the bathroom window open slightly during the day to help with good air circulation
  • When the bathroom is dry, keep the door open to allow the air from the rest of the home to circulate freely around this room also
  • Keep the shower curtain away from the edge of the bath or shower and open it up to dry out fully
  • Remove all damp towels from the bathroom after using them, or consider installing a heated towel rail to aid the drying process
  • Make regular visual checks of the extractor fan and give the unit a regular clean to eliminate all the build-up

With increased ventilation, a bathroom can dry quicker and reduce moisture levels, thus keeping both fixtures and fittings, and walls in good condition long-term.
